Islamic Relief Worldwide is an International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in Birmingham, UK in 1984. Islamic Relief has a consultative status (special category) with the economic and Social Council of the United Nations is full member of British Overseas NGOs for Development (BOND) and a signatory to the code of conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief. It seeks to promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities through relief and development programmes. Islamic Relief Indonesia is part of Islamic Relief Worldwide which has been working in Indonesia since 2003. Islamic Relief Indonesia provides service and support to the communities in mandate areas, based on the MoU with Department of Home Affairs. There are some initiative sectors under Emergency and Development program such as Shelter, Water and Sanitation, Health and Nutrition, Livelihood, Orphans, Education, Marines Fisheries, and Disaster Preparedness and Response. Through these sectors, Islamic Relief Indonesia plays significant role in alleviating the suffering and poverty of the world's poorest people. Islamic Relief Indonesia seeks to hire committed and experienced person for the following: Position: Livelihood Assistant Base: West Sumatera Duration 23 August 12 - 31 January 2013 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Work in collaboration with livelihood officer to conduct project socialization, community meeting and focus group discussion in each targeted intervention sites * Assist in community outreach activities and recruit direct beneficiaries for enrollment in program in consultation with project team members and relevant goverment agencies/institutions * Assist livelihood officer in implementing farmer field school curricula for mushroom cultivation and other relevant trainings in each targeted intervention sites * Ensure that farmer groups improve quality in cultivation: seeding, planting and harvesting * Provide on-going technical assistance on mushroom cultivation and support in the field to farmer groups * Conduct frequent monitoring of project activities and target farmer groups collecting quantitative and qualitative data. * Assist the livelihood officer to build and manage relations with local project participants in the village, such as heads of villages, religious leaders, women's groups, local NGOs and specialized government agencies, to ensure their active participation and contribution to the project. * Assist in the oversight of IR Indonesia complaints handling mechanism at the field. * Field reporting. * Other tasks as directed by line manager KEY COMPETENCIES * A university degree or other suitable qualification in a related field * 1 experience in mushroom cultivation and community empowerment * Excellent communication skills for advocacy, training, and facilitation * Excellent report writing skills, and good computer skills, including internet and email * Ability to provide leadership as well as work as a member of a team * High degree of adaptability to varied working environtments and good interpersonal skills * Able to maintain good relationship with government agencies/institutions at all levels, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) * Experience in program monitoring * Fluent spoken and written Indonesian and some competence in English * Sincere commitment to engaging women and involving gender consideration into project planning required If you meet the above requirements kindly send your detailed CV with recent photograph containing recommendations from 3 referees, (one of them your immediate former employer) to: hrislamic@islamic-relief.or.id Please put the job title and your name in subject of your email.
