Tourism SME development officer

Swisscontact (www.swisscontact.ch), the Swiss non-profit organisation engaged in co-operation for private sector development, is implementing the Flores tourism destination development project 2009-2013 based on the Indonesian Swiss Development Cooperation. The project aims at increasing competitiveness of Flores as a tourism destination in order to create income and job opportunities in the tourism sector. Swisscontact is currently expanding its team in Bali and Maumere and is looking for enthusiastic and independent professionals in the following locations and fields of expertise: Tourism SME development officer (Permanently located in: Maumere, Flores) Main task: Responsible for skills training and capacity building of local tourism businesses in Eastern Flores to improve the quality of services; relationship management between the private sector, public institutions and the Destination Management Organization (DMO) Requirements: • At least 10 years experience in tourism businesses (hotel, restaurant, tour operator etc.) with several years in a managerial position • Strong focus on goal orientation and implementation of concepts in the field • Pro-active work attitude and strong ability to take decisions • Strong assertiveness and self confidence • Good written and spoken English skills • Team player • Willingness to work in Maumere, Flores Program Officer Tourism Industry Standards (Permanently located in: Sanur, Bali) Main task: Conceptual adaption and creation of quality standards for the local tourism industry (e.g. hotels, restaurants, tour operators, dive Operators, etc.), preparation of trainings and consultancy Requirements: • At least 5 years experience in tourism businesses (hotel, tour operator etc.) • Strong conceptual ability to understand context and to abstract issues • Excellent interpersonal skills for building up a network regarding different issues • Good written and spoken English skills • Pro-active working attitude and team player We can offer you an exciting, fast-paced working environment, a culture of mutual respect and the opportunity to play a vital role in the project.
