Title:Community Organizer for INSTINCT (INSTINCT-CO) Duty Station:Gorontalo Responsible to:Project Manager Coordinates with:Villages Leaders,Sub-district Governments and Partners Duration:24 months with possibility for extension(available by September 1, 2012) Closing date:August 22, 2012 Position Summary RESPONSIBILITIES The INSTINCT Community Organizer’s role is to ensure village governance mechanism system andresources to support Posyandu revitalization and child nutrition improvement. The role will be carried out by conducting appreciative interview to mobilize formal and informal leaders, facilitate villages to arrange village development planning, organize trainingsand action as it is aligned with objectivesand overall goal of INSTINCT project. The overall goal of the INSTINCT Project is to improve the nutritional status of children under the age of 5 in Gorontalo District. The role involves a high degree of good communication skills to connecting, bridging or bonding the community leaders and resources people. INSTINCT CO is also responsible to providing regular report to ADRA Indonesia’s Project Manager and suggesting creative and innovative approaches to make the INSTINCT program effectively mobilize community’s resources and to ensure its sustainability. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED · Appreciative, honest, trustworthyand has high integrity; be self-motivated to use innovation &creativity. · Have good communication and interpersonal skills in order to maintain an acceptable working relationship with formal and informal villages’ leader and strengtheningpeople organizations. · Ability to establish and maintain working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for cultural diversity. · Diploma degree (D3)in Rural Development, Community Health, Socialor other relevant subject. · Proven by a minimum of working experiences in minimum 3 years on community development and organize community events, trainings and workshops. · Familiar with or livingin Gorontalo or NorthernSulawesiregionsisan advantage to effectively carry out the required duties. · Ability to work under pressure at times while maintaining high quality results and team player incommunity mobilizing process. · Demonstrate the affinity with community leadership formation, good governance and good knowledge of rural poverty aspects. JOB DESCRIPTIONS The INSTINCT Community Organizerwill undertake design and implementation of mobilizing community leaders for Posyandu revitalization that adress mother and child health. S/Hewillencourage community leaders to mapping community assets, facilitate village development planning,and organize people education. To monitor community trainer, facilitator and Posyandu cadre and to ensure good coordination and communication with strategic stakeholder in find waysto increase nutritional status of children of under-five. The COis required to undertake the following tasks: 1. Coordinating and building communication with related stakeholders for the INSTINCTProjectorientation prior to implementation. 2. Design monthly planning and Implementing INSTINCT project based on the detailed implementation plan (DIP) to encourage community participation. 3. Designingand organizing leadership formation trainings, Training of Trainers and trengthening the capacity of the existing known community groups. 4. Proposing ways of improvement of INSTINCT Project methodology, strategy and technical matter that adjusted to local context and resources. 5. CARE International Indonesia (CII), as an international NGO, has carried out large scale operations in Indonesia, encompassing emergency operations, transitional activities centered on agriculture and nutrition and a range of development initiatives in such areas as water and sanitation, health and micro-credit. CARE Indonesia in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is currently recruiting the following position for its project: JOB TITLE : COMMUNITY FACILITATOR (CF) DEPARTMENT/PROJECT : PROGRAM/SESAMA REPORTS TO : PROJECT OFFICER (PO) JOB SUMMARY This position will be responsible to Project Officer. CF will work together with CARE project Staff and other stakeholder to planning and implementing activities in the communities, provide monthly report as a figure out of progress activities in the field and submit to Project Officer. Technically, CF will be coordinate with all specialist’s on SESAMA Project such as Community Planning and Advocacy Specialist, Agriculture and Microenterprise Specialist, Health and Education Specialist, Infrastructure and Land Security Specialist. Overall, CF will be responsible to manage all activities related with SESAMA Project in their site. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS * Develop communication and coordination with village leader, community leader, religious leader, groups leader, village extension worker, village midwifes, ING/NGO staff that work on SESAMA site. * Organize and facilitate serial meetings or events in the village to establish/empowerment of group formation, thematic group, arise issue related with vulnerable communities, Musrenbang process, village regulation, etc. * Facilitate and assist community on program implementation related with several sector (Infrastructure, Land Security, Health, Education, Agriculture, Micro enterprise, and Advocacy) and still coordination with all specialist’s. * Address complaints and questions about the project and help ensure transparency in all project implementation and decision making. * Monitor and evaluate project activities in community level, in coordination with Project Officer, Data Entry Officer and Specialist’s. * Provide timely and accurate progress reports for the supervisor as appropriate. * Monthly Update of Project Activities Reports (Including database, indicator tracking tables, etc). * Other tasks may reasonably requested by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor degree (e.g. agriculture, management, social, health, environment) or any relevant background. · At least 2 years experience working with international and local non government organizations. · Familiarity with community level participatory approaches. · Proven good ability as a Community Facilitator. · Willing to spend a considerable amount of time in the field. · Demonstrated capacity to work as a team member. · Honest, responsible, self motivated and able to take initiative under minimum supervision. · Experience computers skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Exel and Power Point) and familiar. with Internet Program (Browsing, e-mail, etc). · Familiar and understand local language are preferable.
